What LearnHGV’s listing labels actually mean

Understand the difference between a live listing, Updated by the centre, Details checked, Verified Training Provider and 100% Direct Delivery before choosing an HGV course.

6 min read

LearnHGV includes providers at different stages of review. A listing being visible helps you find and contact a business, but it does not mean every detail has been checked. The labels tell you what LearnHGV knows about that listing today.

Search results can show a listing label — Not checked yet, Updated by the centre, or Details checked — or Verified Training Provider. A provider page that has not passed verification shows one status: Not yet verified. When 100% Direct Delivery has been approved, that mark is shown with Verified Training Provider. A live or claimed listing has not necessarily passed verification.

Label or markWhat it tells youWhat to do next
Not checked yetThe listing is on LearnHGV. LearnHGV has not checked it yet. Not yet verified by LearnHGV.Confirm the training site, course and delivering business directly.
Updated by the centreThe training centre keeps its own details up to date. That is not the same as Verified Training Provider.Confirm current dates, pricing and delivery arrangements.
Details checkedLearnHGV has checked key listing details. Verified Training Provider is still a separate check.Read the profile and ask who delivers your course.
Verified Training ProviderLearnHGV has checked that this business genuinely delivers HGV/LGV training. A provider can earn this even if it sometimes passes a learner to another training provider.Check that the particular course, location and terms suit you.
100% Direct DeliveryThe provider has declared that training booked through its business is not passed to another training provider to fulfil, and LearnHGV has approved that mark. LearnHGV does not independently monitor every booking. This mark requires Verified Training Provider.Confirm the arrangement for your booking. The mark is not live monitoring of every course.

The exact current definitions, and whether a mark is still in place, are on LearnHGV’s verification page. A claimed profile and a verification decision are separate steps. A self-employed instructor working for the provider is not, by itself, another training provider. If LearnHGV later finds that a provider no longer meets a check, that mark can be removed. 100% Direct Delivery can be removed on its own. Verified Training Provider can stay in place.

Why keep listings that have not been verified?

Learners still need to discover local options. Removing every business before it has completed a voluntary check would leave gaps in the directory. LearnHGV shows the status so you can judge what has been checked and ask the right questions. The absence of a badge is not a finding that a provider is a broker or delivers poor training.

What verification cannot tell you

A badge does not set a course price, reserve a test, promise a pass, or guarantee a particular instructor or vehicle. It is not DVSA approval or accreditation, and it is not a guarantee of training quality, pass rates, or customer service. It does not buy a higher place in search. Your booking terms come from the provider you choose. Ask for the delivering site, full written quote, dates, cancellation terms and retest costs before paying.

Choosing a provider in three steps

  1. Search by category and area and open the profiles that fit your licence and travel needs.
  2. Read the status on each profile. On a Verified Training Provider profile, “How these checks work” opens LearnHGV’s verification page, which defines each mark. If a centre displays a LearnHGV badge on its own website, that badge opens the centre’s public verification page, where the current status is shown.
  3. Contact the provider to confirm the course and compare written quotes. Use our broker checklist for the questions to ask.

FAQs

Does “Updated by the centre” mean verified?

No. It means the training centre keeps its own details up to date. That is not the same as Verified Training Provider.

Is “100% Direct Delivery” the same as Verified Training Provider?

No. Verified Training Provider means LearnHGV has checked that this business genuinely delivers HGV/LGV training. 100% Direct Delivery is a separate mark: the provider has declared that training booked through its business is not passed to another training provider to fulfil, and LearnHGV has approved that mark. It requires Verified Training Provider. LearnHGV does not independently monitor every booking.

Does LearnHGV sell me the course?

No. LearnHGV does not take the booking or add a booking fee. You contact the listing and agree terms with the business.

Should I avoid an unverified provider?

The label alone cannot answer that. Ask who delivers the training, where it happens, and what the written price and terms include.
