The job
Permanent Class 1 night driver job on modern curtain-siders, delivering pallets of cardboard packaging to customers across the UK and collecting paper reels from DS Smith's Fordham site near Newmarket. Previous Class 1 experience is desirable but not essential, new entrants are considered, and an in-house driver trainer gives the training.
Drive articulated curtain-siders on palletised deliveries and paper reel collections to customers nationwide. Do pre- and post-trip checks, keep delivery and mileage records, prepare trailers for loading and unloading, and stay out occasionally overnight with expenses covered.
Hours and working pattern
- Nights, Monday–Friday, plus about 8 sixth shifts a year on rota
- Sunday–Thursday shifts also available
- Up to 48 hours a week (26-week reference period)
- Occasional overnight stays with expenses covered

What you’ll need

- Good knowledge of UK geography and route planning
